Photos of the Week

Hi Guys,

Anytime that you're interested, our newspaper has a gallery online called "The Week in Pictures." It's usually updated every Tuesday or so, and you can check out what the staff is up to weekly. I'm not exactly sure who picks the photos, since I don't always agree with which ones are displayed, but it's fun nonetheless. "On The Road"

I recently travelled with a sports reporter and the Cal State University of Bakersfield men's basketball team to Logan, Utah. We were attempting to document what it was like going on the road for a Division I team.

One thing that I found frustrating was the lack of interaction between the players. Most of the time spent away from the court was enlisted for sleeping. I think that many of these photos reflect the lack of interaction, with the team dinner being the only time for most players to kick back with each other. Otherwise, the rest of the time was spent on the court preparing for the big game against Utah State.

This story ran as a package of 9 photos in the paper. However, because I can do whatever I want on my own site, I'm going to run much more than that. Normally as photographers we are taught to edit our work tightly, especially for publication. So, every once in a while it's fun to display a whole catalogue of work. For the most part I've left out captions. I hope you enjoy.

6:15am- With the sunrise light filtering in through the windows of the plane, Dwuan Rice gets some sleep. The CSUB men's basketball team departed Bakersfield at 5:50am, bound for Logan, Utah and a game on the road against Utah State.

As the seconds tick down to the Roadrunner's defeat, Curry McKinney can barely stand to look at the score.

With heavy hands of defeat, Carl Damus hangs his head in the locker room after CSUB's disappointing loss to Utah State. After several days long travel, of hard practice and intense preparation, the loss hit the team very hard.

A Small Update...

Jeff Kermode is reflected in a plaque comemorating his time spent with the police department in Irvine, CA. Kermode has been named chief of the recently established Tehachapi Police Department.
