One Love (Pt. 2)

Here's a large update from the photo story that I'm doing on Ginger and Janeah (scroll down for an intro to the story). I put up a bunch of shots- not all of these will make the final cut however. I hope you enjoy.

Cheers.

Ginger takes a moment alone to rest from the stresses of being a single mother.

Janeah inhales the mist from her breathing treatment. Janeah was born with severe asthma and must go through a treatment of a mixture of Albuteral and saline solution every six hours so that she can breathe relatively easily.

Ginger stands in her empty living room with only a few last possessions littering the floor. Having deemed her apartment too small for her and Janeah, Ginger is moving out, and moving up. She has found a 3-bedroom house that she is going to rent. Ginger has also qualified for a new program through her foster child status which will help her with her new rent.

Ginger's adoptive mother plays with Janeah.

Ginger calls multiple friends in an attempt to get a ride to the grocery store. Ginger finds not having a car very stressful, since she often has to rely on friends to get where she needs to go.

Reese, Janeah's father, gives her a kiss on the cheek.

While sitting in her boyfriend's car, Ginger examines her WiC vouchers. WiC (Women, Infants and Children) is a program that helps Ginger take care of Janeah's basic needs. As Ginger brings Janeah in for regular check-ups with a doctor, WiC will give Ginger vouchers for the necessities- milk, cereal, butter, baby formula, etc.

Ginger jokes around with company at dinner in her new home. Reese, far right, Janeah's father, looks on.

Ginger and Janeah take a look at the new backyard through the blinds of an upstairs bedroom.

Ginger leans against the closet door as she takes a break from touring her new house with Janeah.

Ginger keeps Janeah happy while waiting for the doctor at the WiC center.

Ginger prepares Janeah to run errands. Ginger says that one of the most difficult things to get used to about being a new mother is "I have to do everything for two people now. Before I can even think about getting myself ready, I have to make sure [Janeah's] taken care of"

Ginger uses her WiC vouchers to buy the necessities- baby formula, milk and cereal.

Ginger feeds Janeah while listening to the doctor's report of the baby's growth. Janeah is still much smaller than she should be, but she is making large gains in her weight.

Late in the evening, Ginger gives Janeah a bath.
