Saying Goodbye

This was a very difficult shoot. This morning, about 170 troops from the 259th Security Force were deployed to Iraq. Normally, I rarely have a hard time intruding on other peoples' privacy, but this was different. I felt like I was always butting in during what might very well be these familys' last moments together.

Thank you for capturing these very special moments. My husband was one of the soldiers that left that morning. This is his first deployment and that morning will forever be etched in our memories. He will be gone for 18 months. He leaves behind me and two kids. Every day we miss him beyond words and try not to think about "what could happen". I never thought I would be one of those wifes who had to say goodbye due to this war, knowing it could be our last. I cry myself to sleep everynight. I try to take one day at a time and focus on the day we will be together again. Anything less than that is too hard to think about. I pray it gets easier.
